Shiira web browser

February 1st, 2006 · 1 Comment

Always looking for shinier toys for my system, I came across the Shiira web browser for MacOS X. It looks very nice, it is very fast, and has a bundle of nice features, including built-in search keywords, RSS reading and direct import and display of Firefox and Safari bookmarks. Very nice!

Performancing for Firefox

December 22nd, 2005 · No Comments

I have kept using Firefox on my Mac, and today I read about the Performancing for Firefox extension, so I thought I’d give it a try – I’m posting this using it. It’s quite nifty – you get a split-view screen with the posting editor at the bottom, while being able to continue using the [...]

Vienna RSS reader

October 16th, 2005 · 2 Comments

Since Tiger came out, I’ve been using Safari’s RSS reader, which I really like. Today I learned about Vienna, an open-source RSS reader. You can define folders and smart folders of feeds, and in general looks very nice. I’m giving it a try, maybe it’ll stick, and maybe I can then go back to Firefox [...]

XEmacs on MacOS X

February 22nd, 2005 · No Comments

XEmacs has now been ported to Carbon. Downloaded and compiled without a problem, I’m just starting to test it. I’ve used XEmacs for a long time on Solaris and Linux, it’s good to have it on MacOSX as well. Good stuff. I’m not too fond of the icon, though.

Progress report on CopperExport 0.3

February 13th, 2005 · 1 Comment

I’ve been working on some updates for the next version of CopperExport. Here’s my current list of possible improvements:
- (partially done) Populate thumbnail list “live”, after displaying the export dialog.
- Offer some preset options for resizing (640×480, 800×600, 1024×768) (suggested by Peter Polz)
- (done) In the description of a new album, be able to enter [...]

CopperExport hosting moved to BerliOS

February 5th, 2005 · No Comments

After having used CVS for source code management for a long time, I recently started using Subversion, and like it a lot, I think I’m switching to it for good. So of course, CopperExport is kept on Subversion, and only after creating the project at Sourceforge I realized that they still do not provide Subversion [...]

CopperExport 0.2

February 4th, 2005 · No Comments

A new release of CopperExport is available! Many nice changes in this release, including:
* Allow setting the description for new albums (requires an
additional server-side patch to the xp_publish.php file, see the
ReadMe).
* Improved checking and cleanup of URLs (you can omit the http://
at the beginning, and properly handles a slash or “/index.php”
at the end).
* Improved error [...]

January 31st, 2005 · No Comments

Note: some time has passed since I wrote this article. While the general idea still holds, the dovecot configuration format has changed in recent versions, so please don’t use the file I show here blindly.
I recently switched all my locally-stored email in my work machine from Evolution 1.4 to a local IMAP server, using the [...]
