I’m a freak for neat tools and tricks, and one of them is launchers on the Mac. A long time ago I used (and even bought) LaunchBar, then discovered Butler, and had been very happy with it. Then, recently, through 43 Folders, I rediscovered QuickSilver, which I tried some time ago, but was still too young, and discovered that it has matured quite nicely. I’m just starting to use it, but shows promise. Merlin from 43Folders has a good collection of write-ups about QS:
