Happy New Year! I’ve been in it for 2.5 hours, looks fine so far.
-
@ftiff thanks, and happy new year to you as well! My work at Swisscom is much more private, but I hope to write a bit about it at some point
-
@praxagora Congrats to both of you, and Happy New Year!

I've been trying to setup iCloud on a new Mac, but I'm not getting the verification code, even after multiple resend requests. Any ideas?
-
@vitroth Mystery solved: I had somehow changed the contact email address, which was confusing things. Changed it back, everything works now

The Retina display on my new Macbook Pro is truly stunning. What a difference from my old (pre-Retina) one!
-
@geekgrrl Thanks - I found the problem. I'd somehow changed the contact email addr on my Apple ID. Changed it back, and everything worked :)

For the first time in many years, Quicksilver has not been installed on my new Mac. That's how much Spotlight (+Flashlight) has improved.

Weird - Apple support pages (e.g. support.apple.com/kb/DL1758) appear blank on Safari, but correctly on Chrome.

@Veritrope I'm trying to debug a problem with your Mail-to-Evernote script. What's the best way to reach you about this? Thanks!
-
@Veritrope Never mind, found it :) Bug report coming. Thanks for the script!

Just encountered the first app (an old Java app) that automatically opens in low-resolution mode on my Retina Mac. Ewwww.
-
Re: that app in low-res mode, this tip made it run in high-res, seems to work OK: apple.stackexchange.com/questions/69038/open-in-low-resolution-checkbox-on-retina-macbook-pro-checked-and-disabled

@markburgess_osl @da5is @mattstratton came from one of the early CFEngine manuals, one of my favorite quotes
-
@da5is @markburgess_osl @mattstratton "Every time someone logs onto a system by hand, they jeopardize everyone’s understanding of the system"
-
@da5is @markburgess_osl @mattstratton That's the original quote. Source: docs.cfengine.com/archive/manuals/cf3-tutorial, under "Why automation"
