  1. …in reply to @Documentally
@Documentally Congratulations! I hope all is going well. First baby?
  2. …in reply to @simX
@simX That was NOT nice. But cute at the same time.
  3. Right - today is April 1st. Need to be careful around the Intertubes.
  4. …in reply to @Documentally
@Documentally I also found that unsettling. There you are, at the biggest, most-nervous moment of your life, and they Act. So. Calm.
  5. Ooooh - I just noticed my next tweet will be my 1000th. I wonder what will it be?
  6. And this would be my 1000th tweet, now being automatically broadcast on FaceBook. Isn't that exciting. w00t. Now - coffee #fb
  7. @latone Package arrived today, the keys are very cool. Thanks a lot for your help!
  8. I am now the proud owner of a 4GB iamaKey USB key: http://tinyurl.com/bdd8u7 It's very cool #fb
  9. RT @gsightseeing: Undoubtedly, this couple have been caught on Google Street View having sex. http://bit.ly/7Dda0 #streetview
  10. …in reply to @myrcurial
@myrcurial I use VMware, but I hear Parallels is very good too - never used it, VMware is sort of standard at work.
  11. @whisperings Are you tracking your "follow us on twitter" announcements with batches of new followers? It might be interesting.
  12. @Documentally http://twitpic.com/2pmpl - Congratulations! He's beautiful.
  13. …in reply to @Documentally
@Documentally Wow, big boy! Happy to hear that everything went well after the long and exhausting delivery.
  14. …in reply to @simX
@simX Well, in most of the world (except US, maybe UK), "football" means "soccer".
  15. …in reply to @simX
@simX For the other sport, you'd say something like (e.g. in Mexico) "american football"
  16. …in reply to @tgardner
@tgardner As is NeoOffice 3.0 - has been working fine for me.
  17. Weird: Safari 4 suddenly opening links from apps in new windows instead of tabs, despite the preference to the contrary
  18. …in reply to @mattgemmell
@mattgemmell Trying Bluebird - looks very nice indeed, thanks for the pointer.
  19. Aaand... back in Syrinx
  20. @MRRSoftware @mattpat @mike9r Feature req for your twitter clients: automatically download/show photos, like this: http://tinyurl.com/chkgfq
  21. I loved Switzerland's April 1st joke: http://www.myswitzerland.com/mountaincleaners
  22. Bluebird automatically puts itself on all Spaces? Not nice.
  23. Although it doesn't appear in the Spaces pref pane. How very odd.
  24. I'm running Bluebird and Syrinx side to side at the moment. BB looks very nice, but I'm addicted to Syrinx' Pause feature
  25. …in reply to @undefined
    @Darknater What's happening?
  26. Going to bed now. Chicken pox is getting better now, but still gives us restless nights, I need to accumulate some sleep while I can.
  27. …in reply to @Documentally
@Documentally Indeed. I got a parking ticket the day my second daughter was born :-(
  28. Dear Lotus Notes: STOP STEALING MY FOCUS. That (among many other things) is why I avoid using you whenever I can.
  29. Playing with the Google Earth plugin examples at http://tinyurl.com/6naxm7 #fb
  30. Going home early to enjoy the nice Friday afternoon weather with my family #fb
  31. Making Cajeta (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cajeta ). I LOVE the stuff, but it takes forever to make.
  32. AND it requires constant stirring. I've been in the kitchen for 2 hours already.
  33. …in reply to @wimremes
@domdingelom @Shrdlu I love House as well, but I'm only starting Season 3 at the moment.
  34. Still stuck in the kitchen, stirring. Using the time to label missing faces in iPhoto :-)
  35. …in reply to @undefined
@Darknater I could eat a liter of it in one sitting. First time making it at home, let's see how it comes out.
  36. Sometimes iPhoto detects the face of someone way off in the distance, but misses the person facing the camera in the foreground. Weird.
  37. …in reply to @undefined
@Darknater On the other hand, it's now getting really good at differentiating among my two daughters, which it often confused before.
  38. …in reply to @undefined
    @Shrdlu Engüete!
  39. It's finally done! That took long enough, but the result should be worth it.
  40. RT @domdingelom: I gotta fly SWA one day ... http://video.yahoo.com/network/100284668?v=4743429&l=4418225
  41. And that's all for tonight. It's 1AM here already, good night everyone.
  42. @Documentally http://twitpic.com/2woal - What a beautiful photo. He looks so tiny, and so peaceful. Yet they grow so fast. Enjoy this time!
  43. Hrmph... I have surprisingly little mail for a Monday morning. Something must be wrong.
  44. Baby had fever all weekend - we think it's the chicken pox. Going home to stay with older sister so she can go to the doctor with my wife.
  45. Turns out it wasn't chicken pox, just some other viral throat infection. CP is most certainly still coming - she was exposed to it all week.
  46. Awesome! I want one of those RT @vkoser: @doctorlinguist http://www.nowhereelse.fr/c64-laptop-commodore-64-portable-18398/
  47. How very odd. I just noticed several tweets from yesterday are missing from my timeline in twitter.com
  48. http://twitpic.com/2x1rs - It's on beautiful days of spring like today that I really miss having my Z4

  51. RT @njames: there's a lot of wisdom in this pic from @gapingvoid http://www.gapingvoid.com/ignore%20everybody%200904Ajpeg.jpg

  53. …in reply to @cakewrecks
@cakewrecks Very sorry for your loss. I appreciate all the CW laughs, but in the end we are all humans with good and bad in our lives.
  54. Still debating whether to get MacHeist 3 or not
  55. bah. caved in, just bought it
  56. …in reply to @undefined
@vkoser sh*t - too late, I ordered it already. Sorry...
  57. I bought the @MacHeist 3 Bundle. 12 Top Mac apps worth $900+ for just $39 AND I just got Delicious Library 2 FREE! http://mhtweet.com/yJ8pPf
  58. Oh boy. I sold my twitter soul for DL2 and a game. Sorry for the spam.
  59. Anyway, off to sleep. If anyone is still thinking of buying Macheist 3, feel free to use my referral link: http://tinyurl.com/dznfnd
  60. Up already - this 6AM waking schedule the baby has adopted recently is really tiring.
  61. @loic Trying Seesmic Desktop for the first time. Looks very slick. User lists and saved searches! Cool.
  62. Following @zambonini just because of his last name :-)
  63. …in reply to @macdevnet
@macdevnet The same happens to me, but with Syrinx. It just feels right, and has some features that are quite addictive (bookmark and pause)
  64. …in reply to @undefined
@Shrdlu True :-) Hope your kid is better! Mine fell down hard on her knee yesterday, she'll miss the Easter Egg hunt party at daycare today
  65. Most used app from MH3 so far? World of Goo. Very addictive.
  66. …in reply to @Documentally
@Documentally Why are they doing stories about @Minimentally? If it were my baby, I wouldn't let them.
  67. I see that LibraryThing can import from DL2. Cool, I might be able to keep both in sync
  68. Off twitter for the rest of the day. Too much work to do, and it's supposed to be a holiday today :-(
  69. The Hit List looks promising - it came with MH3, so I may give it a try and see if it's as good as Things
  70. …in reply to @undefined
@vkoser I've been an avid user of Things, but THL looks very nice, and it's been getting very good reviews: http://tinyurl.com/c2rt6d
  71. FWIW: The Hit List is AWESOME so far. Will write more about it in the future.
  72. …in reply to @undefined
@vkoser No iPhone app yet, though they've promised it. I don't have an iPhone, so I don't car about that :-) Sync with iCal works well tho
  73. …in reply to @undefined
@vkoser You'll have the same problem with THL I'm afraid. Have you tried ThinkingRock? Not the prettiest, but very good and cross platform
  74. I was so distracted coding that i missed my train stop. Taking the train back now.
  75. Made it to my office finally. I hate it when that happens :-)
  76. BTW, in the train I was playing with The Hit List's Applescript capabilities. Now looking for a way to export my tasks from Things.
  77. …in reply to @undefined
@vkoser Not too far. Had to wait ~20 minutes for the next train, delayed me ~30 mins total
  78. …in reply to @undefined
@vkoser I've seen them but never tried them. I could send you some if you want.
  79. I'm using porting my tasks from Things to THL as an excuse to learn Ruby,
  80. …in reply to @undefined
    @vkoser Sure, no problem.
  81. …in reply to @undefined
@Shrdlu Agree with @geekgrrl. When people know someone will take charge, they lose organizational brain functions and follow the leader
  82. …in reply to @undefined
@Shrdlu You should try not _being_ there (but arrange a hidden camera or microphone :-) You'll see how they manage.
  83. …in reply to @funkatron
@funkatron If you don't use it yet, buy it. It's truly, really, very useful and well done. Agree 100% with @vkoser.
  84. …in reply to @funkatron
@funkatron @vkoser OK then, I'm preaching to the choir :-)
  85. Working on my script to migrate my tasks from Things to The Hit List. #things #thehitlist #fb
  86. Damn you Office 2008 trial installer, for modifying my dock
  87. RT @Beaker: Screw the Manifesto racket. I'm forming "La Clouda Nostra". You either joins the Clouda or yous suffahs the consequences, capice?
  88. …in reply to @raffaelmarty
    @zrlram Nice name
  89. …in reply to @MRRSoftware
@MRRSoftware The visual changes in the recent betas are very nice - looks much more polished. Oh, and nice to meet you and not your logo :-)
  90. Playing the Twitter speed-typing game at http://fast140.com - How fast can you type?
  91. …in reply to @ids
@ids That's why I avoid it like the plague.
  92. …in reply to @The_School_Run
    @parent_tweets This? http://www.coffee-mate.com/
  93. Interesting: http://tinyurl.com/dlu5jd On my disk, with 41GB free, largest free block is 7.5GB
  94. The youngest one finally got chicken pox too. Right on schedule too, 17 days after the other one started (book said 17-21 incubation days)
  95. …in reply to @The_School_Run
@parent_tweets It's powder coffee cream. Sorry, can't see the original tweet you replied to (protected), so I'm lacking context.
  96. I see. Have you tried Mate tea? I'm drinking it also in place of coffee, it's very good (but still quite caffeinated)
  97. …in reply to @The_School_Run
@parent_tweets The original looks like this http://tinyurl.com/y7ns72 but they also sell it in regular tea packets,it's good with milk/cream
  98. …in reply to @MRRSoftware
@MRRSoftware BTW, sometimes "Show conv" on a reply to a non-followee does not open the tweet in the browser. Known issue?
  99. …in reply to @MRRSoftware
@MRRSoftware Rather it just collapses to the reply tweet in the Syrinx window.
  100. I should be finishing some reading I have to do for a meeting in 30 mins. Off twitter for a while.
  101. Once again, Syrinx "Pause" feature FTW
  102. Bwahaha. Paper finished on time, with 10 minutes to go!
  103. Up already. Chicken pox night two: not so bad.
  104. Decided to take the day off today
  105. Out shopping with the family. I had to work on easter, so taking thu/fri off. Nice weather too.
  106. at home with one poor little chicken-pox-ridden baby. Sleeping now at least
  107. …in reply to @undefined
@Shrdlu At least with chicken pox, we know that's it, never again, for the rest of their lives :-)
  108. …in reply to @undefined
    @Shrdlu Ugh, true. Hopefully not.
  109. …in reply to @wimremes
@domdingelom Indeed - that's the worse at the moment. She looks at us (mostly my wife) like saying "make it stop!" It's very frustrating
  110. …in reply to @latone
@latone Have fun! Here we are approaching the end of the day already
  111. …in reply to @andrewsmhay
@andrewsmhay Because airlines are not interested at all in saving you time?
  112. …in reply to @raffaelmarty
@zrlram What do you have? Are you OK?
  113. It's 1:22 AM and here I am trying to debug a Ruby program. Being a Ruby beginner doesn't help. I should go to sleep. But. Must. Squash. Bug.
  114. Bug squashed, then surfaced again. Too tired, need some sleep.
  115. bwahahahaha, found it. *pounds chest* good night
  116. In the office again. Entering twitter-free zone for a while
  117. Trying out Tweetie for the Mac http://bit.ly/6FXY I like the look, very clean.
  118. …in reply to @undefined
@Darknater Not as far as I can tell
  119. …in reply to @zen_habits
@zen_habits Agree - I'm liking it very much
  120. My car wasn't back from repairs on the agreed time, so the garage gave me a Mini One convertible for a day, for free :-)
  121. Testing new Tweetie for Mac Bookmarklet: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/534786/tweetie.html
  122. I love how Tweetie automatically loads more tweets when you reach the end of the list. Very nicely done.
  123. And now, again, time for some serious work.
  124. @avlieshout @gabvirtualworld Did you snapshot any VMs with VNC+pswd enabled? That has caused things to crash for me, and confirmed by VMware
  125. @avlieshout @gabvirtualworld Solution was to remove the offending snapshot by hand, then restart things again.
  126. @tweetie is truly beautiful. And I love how it opens twitpic images directly, without going to the browser.
  127. @tweetie is the only Twitter client that has kept me away from Syrinx for more than a few min lately. I've been using it all day and love it
  128. …in reply to @undefined
@sgaw Agree. Tweetie's conversation view is very nicely done, by showing tweets even from people you are not following.
  129. …in reply to @MRRSoftware
@MRRSoftware I'm still in love with Syrinx (Pause, bookmark are unique features). But Tweetie has a _very_ polished UI.
  130. …in reply to @ids
@ids They got you now - nowhere to run :-)
  131. Wow, I just realized there are four other people named like me in Facebook
  132. @tweetie @MRRSoftware On a whim, I added both Tweetie and Syrinx to the Twitter fan wiki Apps page: http://bit.ly/dxhNt feel free to fix :-)
  133. @tweetie @MRRSoftware BTW, I got to that page because it's linked to from http://twitter.com/downloads
  134. RT @zambonini: [...] auto-refilling wine glass. Plus, it's a beautiful thing to look at. http://www.kyouei-ltd.co.jp/g-t-e.html
  135. RT @DiegoZamboni: Set up this account after reading http://bit.ly/c5njI I do my real twittering as @zzamboni
  136. Also gave me a chance to test @tweetie's multiple-account support. Again, very nicely done.
  137. …in reply to @wimremes
@domdingelom Agree (same for me). Registered it just to make sure no one else got it.
  138. Really amazing and quite addictive RT @mpb Wow! How did they make this? http://tinyurl.com/co7t85
  139. …in reply to @XabbuTardis
@XabbuTardis Glad you liked it! I think it has a very nice UI. I still miss the Syrinx bookmark and pause features, though
  140. Vmware vSphere client keeps losing connection to my ESX server. It's driving me mad.
  141. …in reply to @zambonini
@zambonini LaTeX? It can render PS, PDF, easily converted to HTML, text, possibly even XML.
  142. …in reply to @mattgemmell
@mattgemmell I'll add. Thou shalt not expect to be followed back if thine updates are protected.
  143. …in reply to @mattgemmell
@mattgemmell You beat me to it :-)
  144. Wow. RT @lmacvittie: Apple won't let you swear in an iPhone app, but will let you simulate shaking a baby to death. http://bit.ly/15q9yW
  145. Watching a compilation whiz by while piano music (from iTunes) plays in the background. They seem strangely in sync.
  146. This is the weirdest idea: sockscription http://tinyurl.com/2ome8z
  147. …in reply to @undefined
@Darknater What? Not that I know. Link?
  148. …in reply to @undefined
@Darknater My bad. My brain's humor detector has shut down this late in the day :-)
  149. Oh boy, I'm falling asleep. Better go to bed before I break something bad in the code I'm modifying.
  150. At least I'm coherent. My Twitter personality: likeable inquisitive cautious My style: chatty coherent TALKER http://twanalyst.com/zzamboni
  151. …in reply to @mpb
@mpb Happy Friday to you as well Paul!
  152. Compiling my latest batch of doxygen doc additions. Then, lunch.
  153. Friday afternoon distraction: NFCTD http://www.nfctd.com/home.html Weird and a bit nightmarish (find sequence to advance between screens)
  154. …in reply to @thegadgeteer
@thegadgeteer I don't think you need to apologize. Some people are too sensitive and rude (referring to one comment on your post).
  155. AGH. Doxygen can be so confusing.
  156. I despise Mac applications that break when you run them on a case-sensitive filesystem.
  157. Anyone knows why some tweets in @tweetie (Mac version) appear pre-dimmed, as if they were read already?
  158. You can't make up stuff like this: http://bit.ly/R4Yhg #airforceone flyover New York City
  159. RT @zambonini: Like the idea of '.mac' but don't want to pay for the service? Try the open source version: http://code.google.com/p/dotmac/
  160. …in reply to @undefined
@rodet I guess that was to be expected. But the functionality looks very nice.
  161. …in reply to @ischi
@ischi If I'm already running my own server, then the incremental cost is zero except for the effort of setting it up.
  162. …in reply to @ischi
@ischi ...which _could_ be significant - won't know until I try it.
  163. …in reply to @mckeay
@mckeay I don't think there's a pandemic yet, but there is the risk of a pandemic. See http://bit.ly/1atl4V (they declared Phase 4)
  164. …in reply to @mckeay
@mckeay "Phase 4 indicates a significant increase in risk of a pandemic but does not [...] mean that a pandemic is a forgone conclusion."
  165. …in reply to @zambonini
@zambonini Just use Tweetie, its conversation view is very good.
  166. …in reply to @Documentally
@Documentally I feel your pain. My 3yro daughter still wakes up at night. Add the 10mo baby, and I'm up and around most of the night.
  167. …in reply to @mckeay
@mckeay How I envy you. I haven't known the feeling in 3 years
  168. …in reply to @zen_habits
@zen_habits Great talk, but I don't think it justifies homeschooling (nor it tries to). Going to school also creates other abilities...
  169. …in reply to @zen_habits
@zen_habits ...beyond pure learning, like social, cooperation and planning skills.
  170. Faces in iPhoto is nice, but it has a loooong way to go
  171. Plus, why on earth is there no key shortcut for "Add Missing Face"? And no menu item, so I can't add one myself. Grrrrrrr.
  172. I'm curious, how do people know when someone unfollows them? Is there a tool/site that tracks it? Or you just keep an eye on your profile?
  173. Lazy Twitter: need a light, good looking, free Usenet reader for Mac. Any suggestions? I'm trying Postbox, but it's too clunky for my taste.
  174. …in reply to @davideisert
@davideisert @vkoser Thanks. LOL'ing at the http://qwitter.com site (first paragraph)
  175. …in reply to @davideisert
@davideisert Yes, they point you to it. But I agree, the muggn.com site is far more entertaining :-)
  176. …in reply to @jamieoliver
@jamie_oliver Wow. What was that meant to achieve? Besides the show, of course.
