The Mac RDC client in principle allows you to share a local folder with the remote machine, but it doesn't work. Grrrrrr
-
Virtualization is very interesting, but doing anything with virtual machines takes a long time because they are so big...
-
@MRRSoftware The most relaxing vacation I had in recent times was when we stayed at home the whole time. No traveling, no packing, no stress
-
Reading the Google Chrome comic - very interesting! http://tinyurl.com/6cke55

I really need to go sleep - baby will wake up any minute. But I'm being really productive...
-
Going to sleep now, finally
-
Unity mode in VMware Fusion is very cool
-
I'm still torn between TweetDeck (stored searches, columns, etc.) and Syrinx (light, small, native)

@fraserspeirs What classes do you teach?

@SifuMoraga What's the new gig?

@SifuMoraga cool. No longer at the university, or is this additional?
-
@SifuMoraga Good luck! All the best to the family as well.

@SifuMoraga And you have plans to come back?
-
The Google Chrome page doesn't give you a download button unless you set your user agent to a Windows browser.
-
Trying Google Chrome - it's pretty fast, even running under vmware on my machine (in Unity mode, which makes it nicer)
-
Also: Quicksilver finds apps in my Windows VM, and correctly launches them in VMware Fusion!
-
Google Chrome looks very nice. I'm looking forward to (a) Mac version, (b) 1Password support for it :-)
-
Has anyone tried Ripplex? http://tinyurl.com/5w9vhw It looks intriguing

I had completely forgotten that as part of my ACM membership I get access to O'Reilly's Safari books online service. w00t!
-
@vkoser "This video is not available in your country." I didn't even know YouTube did per-country blocking.
-
@KGranson On the other hand, I still have a 2nd-gen iPod (20GB) I bought in 2002 and it works fine, even battery life is still decent.
-
Firefox 3, why are you not saving changes in my bookmarks?
-
@sgaw I noticed they were in use on your blog when I left a comment earlier today

@MRRSoftware Loving the pause button in Syrinx. Ideas for kbd controls: open URLs in tweet, open replied-to tweet, open replied-to user
-
CoRD beta release does disk sharing properly. Bye bye, MS RDC client.

Grrrrrrrrrr. CoRD has some issues with keyboard handling. Back to MS RDC...

Back into VMware internals/Linux kernel land
-
@vkoser So in the end you broke down and got yourself an iPhone?
-
Installing Syrinx 1.2
-
@MRRSoftware Looks very nice - I like the in-dock pause indicator.
-
@MRRSoftware Bug report: "Show current status" appears as "showCurrentStatus" on app launch - if you toggle it and back then it displays ok
-
@MRRSoftware That's assuming you have it hidden on launch, like I do.
-
@MRRSoftware That's why I never use VersionTracker. I like macupdate.com much better
-
@MRRSoftware Another weird one - look for example at this tweet: http://twitter.com/vkoser/statuses/910072162 gets cut off before the 2 dots

My mistake, that was @rands who provided the link to tr.im
-
Big accident around town (Adliswil), lots of traffic - I'm glad I biked to work
-
@rescuetime I love this from your welcome email: " Password: As IF we would send you your password in cleartext!"
-
@fraserspeirs You went out at 4AM in Chicago? You are braver than me, Chicago always scared me a bit
-
@vkoser @RichardRixham It's one of those "This video is not available in your country" videos
-
Went today with the family to http://trampolino.info/ - really crowded since it was raining, but really fun.

-
@Dr_of_Love New Atlantis from The Diamond Age. Matter Compilers FTW

I like the search folders in tweenky. I'm not too sure about it being a web app, I like desktop clients better.

@tweenky as a Fluid web app - nice. Wish it would resize to a narrower width (voted for it in uservoice already)

I'm getting Growl notifications from my tweenky Fluid web app - cool! And I didn't do anything to enable it, it just works

@macdevnet I have 2.8.3.BETA-6 (build 7233)

@macdevnet Enable "include beta versions" in the Updates section of the preferences

I got "Understanding the Linux kernel" from the library. I have it through Safari books, but I still prefer the paper version of any book

@KGranson ew. I wouldn't. Maybe, after extensive cleaning and disinfection. What phone is it?

@boredzo I see - thanks
-
@MRRSoftware I'm seeing duplicate/triplicate tweets when coming back from Pause mode - possible bug?
-
@MRRSoftware Do you have a bug/issue tracker somewhere, or are bug reports & feature requests by Twitter enough?
-
@fraserspeirs You could show NeoOffice. Not as nice visually, but it is newer, integrated and useful.
-
Bwaha! The most recent Safari 4 DP does not crash on delicious.com. I wish I had seen the new version before reporting the bug to Apple...

@culturedcode Good to see you back tweeting and coding! Looking forward to future versions.

☹ I was thinking the other day how long it would be before I accidentally tweeted a password (part of one, in this case). It's changed now.

@MRRSoftware Weird display bug: see the top of the window: http://twitpic.com/cv0k

@MRRSoftware That's what I thought. When I hid the toolbar, the half-displayed top row moved up instead of being uncovered. Restart fixed it

My "to read" pile is approaching its physical size limit (height of the shelf in which it is stored)
-
Just got my brand new copy of "Cocoa Programming for Mac OS X", 3rd ed.
-
And a few mins later, my brand new x3550 server arrives. Happy day!
-
@VMwareFusion I have had three kernel panics since I installed 10.5.5, the crash log seems to indicate com.vmware.kext.vmnet is to blame
-
Looking at my PanicReporter logs - in 2008, I have had 16 kernel panics. Wow.
-
mdworker spent 3 minutes crashing like crazy (tons of CrashReporter logs), and then continued normally. Hrm...
-
Done with the physical installation of my new server - now to install the system itself (VMware ESX server)

@VMwareFusion Will do - thanks for the reply

@MRRSoftware The record so far: one tweet repeated 9 times when resuming after pause.
-
@andysc Howdy fellow IBMer
-
@MRRSoftware it might be related to the lenght of the pause, but it's not uniform - not all tweets are repeated the same.
-
@MRRSoftware Incidentally, your reply was rep 6 times :-) Any info I could send to help debug the problem?
-
@zrlram Seen this? ASV is one of the new books in the Safari selection available to ACM members: http://tinyurl.com/4bo5aj

I'm using iTerm again after having switched to Terminal when 10.5 came out. Big feature for me: Cmd-double-click to open URLs
-
@fraserspeirs Have you installed VMware tools in the guest OS? Otherwise it sees a pretty generic VGA card
-
@fraserspeirs You are running OSX inside VMware?
-
Keeping Safari open on both of my accounts on this machine is a mistake. Each instance is taking 180MB of memory.

@fraserspeirs Reminds me of the old joke "a wallet is a device invented to allow you to lose all your stuff at the same time"

Kids finally asleep, enjoying some quiet time with my wife
-
@myrcurial With a 2.5-yearr-old and a 3-month-old, there's definitely a correlation :-)

@macdevnet Will that do it? I thought TM keeps metadata that may need some transformation when moving the backup
-
@macdevnet Right - but is there anything in there that is tied to the disk you are using (e.g. volume name, some other ID)
-
@macdevnet I have a 1TB MyBook Studio as my TM drive - it has worked flawlessly so far
